The tank bag was specially developed for the R 1200 R and adapts perfectly to the shape of the tank. The main part of the tank bag is expandable and is watertight due to the splash-proof zip closure and a taped lockable interior bag. This dispenses with the need for an expensive, awkward rain-cover. At the back of the tank bag is an additional non-watertight pocket with a separate zip closure. The map pocket on the new R 1200 R tank bag is likewise watertight and holds standard size road maps.
